Entrepreneurship is Intimidating

Starting a business is an incredibly daunting endeavor to take on. You have to conceptualize a vision for your business and present that vision to the world. While some may encourage you in your efforts many will disparage you, putting down your vision even before it has a chance to thrive. And then you have to market your business, make sure your community is aware of the service you’re offering. In a self-aggrandizing style you must proclaim to the world, “I’M HERE AND HERE I WILL REMAIN!”

Photographers conceptualize an artistic idea to share with the world, molding a blank canvass from your mind into a tediously sculpted, purposeful project in an attempt to connect with other people intellectually and emotionally; an attempt to make your peers feel what you have been feeling without explicitly explaining it to them with spoken words. Perhaps we want to discover new ways to express ourselves to the world or perhaps we do not know how to express ourselves in words to start, so we struggle to find the proper mannerisms to communicate with other humans as one would in a foreign land with no knowledge of the native language. Imagine if you were suddenly dropped into the middle of Beijing, China, with no knowledge of Mandarin or Cantonese, no ability to read any of the business or road signs, and no ability to communicate your needs to the populace. That is how an artist feels when attempting to communicate his vision to the world through business. It is a wonder why anyone would ever attempt to become a successful artist. Most of us do what we do because we need to, not because we want to. We need to see our attempts at creative expression to completion to satisfy a desire to see the world in a different way, if not for others, then for ourselves. An artist needs to know that another world is possible.

Photography is an incredibly daunting endeavor to start but I’m determined for it. This website will be a significant mechanism I use to give my vision to the world. I hope my fellow human beings take hold of such a vison gently with grace but I know there will be those who devour it with ruthless cynicism, clawing and tearing it to pieces and then throwing it to a pack of wolves to be devoured. That is okay, I’m prepared for that. This will be my vision to give to you to handle with either care or disdain however your instinctual inclinations drive you.
