In the 21st century, any business needs a presence in the digital world. Regardless of the toxicity of digital, screen-based communication, the reality of our internet-connected, mobile world is computers control society, and screens increasingly are a part of our lives.
With that said, how can we add some more positivity to this new digital world? With food, of course! Food always brings people together which is why I am now photographing for a restaurant.
Enter the Wildcat’s Den in Questa, New Mexico.
A staple of this small, mountain village with a reputation for deliciousness and the kind of loyal support base you only see throughout small-town America. The Wildcat’s Den is a watering hole for a tiny community underneath the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico, a business as well known in Questa as the names Martinez, Vigil, Gallegos, Rael, Ortega, Lovato, and Cisneros. Burger joints are as American as apple pie and bourbon and the Wildcat’s Den makes everyone feel at home with their steaming piles of beef patties made fresh every day.

I’ve agreed to photograph for the Wildcat’s Den because I share in their community and I’ve met wonderful people here in these mountains; people who look out for one another, people who will offer to drive you somewhere when your car is broken down, people who will offer you firewood in the winter so you don’t freeze, people who are willing to give you what you need even at a great cost to them. America needs more of this communal mentality in every one of our villages, towns, and cities, and I want to highlight the little details that make those communities.
